Prakanta (Abi Adams)
Techniques, Anatomy & Yoga Teacher Trainer
My inspiration, passion and dharma is to unlock physical and mental health through exploration of our earth bound bodies through yoga and massage, leading to full responsibility (big commitment!), balance and the biggest part – happiness! I have travelled to various parts of this beautiful earth learning, listening and experiencing (most important) ways to feel within our true vibration and how to turn that vibration up so we can dance to the beat, love ourselves and all we’ve been given and connect to an ever growing community of people that want to change the world. And ever time we step on the mat, a small change is made.
I qualified for 200hr YTT in 2007 with Brian Cooper, Union Yoga, and 500 hr YTT in 2012 with Yogi Vishvketu, World Yoga Family. Further study with Usha Devi: 1 week intensive of Iyengar in Rishikesh, Jason Crandell (the art of sequencing: online study), Anodea Judith (Chakra Healing: online study, psychology of the chakras: 7 day intensive), as well as workshops with John Scott, Maty Ezraty and Matthew Sweeney to name but a few of the amazing teachers that have transformed my practice.
Hello my name is Ananda Kalika (this is my spiritual name, meaning Bud Of Divine Bliss which was gifted to me by Yog Sundari) and here is a brief history of how I became an Akhanda Yoga Teacher.
When I reflect, the desire had always been there to become a Yoga Teacher. From the age of 17, I had dipped in and out of Yoga classes for years until around 2008 when I first came to a Yog Sundari Yoga class, I loved the diversity, the mantras, the chanting, the pranayama and the spiritual aspect, put simply, I was hooked.
In 2013 I joined a group of students that Yog Sundari took to the Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram in India, where I met Yogrishi Vishvketu for the first time – the nine days that were spent there spun me around on my axis, each day was magical and more alive than I had ever felt before; there is an intangible vibe in the air which defies any words, there are no words for Rishikesh! I returned to the ashram the following year, to do my 200 hour YTT, an intense 4 weeks which can only be described as one of the hardest and yet one of the most powerful experiences of my life! I remained there for an additional week long intensive training in pranayama techniques. Life would never be the same again; reborn – I launched myself into teaching and have retained many of those students to this day. In 2015 I added Yin Yoga to my qualifications. My 300 hour YTT in India promptly followed in 2016, I had no idea how much deeper we would delve but I embraced each and every day of those seven weeks of training as the great gift that Akhanda Yoga is.
My background is in therapies which I believe go hand in hand and compliment the teaching of Akhanda Yoga perfectly, my therapies are Reiki, Reflexology and Hypnotherapy with TFT and EFT, I also teach healthy eating classes.
I eat, breathe and sleep anything related to ’spiritual studies’ and have attended and taught at a philosophy school for over 10 years.
I adore writing and have self published a book entitled ‘The Secret Messages Hidden in Words’ which resembles how Angel cards work.
My love affair with Akhanda Yoga simply develops more each day, uplifting me in mind, body and spirit. It has awoken in me that power which is within us all, that lay dormant for so many years, releasing me from my old Samskara and catapulting me into new adventures. I feel delighted and honoured to have been asked by Yog Sundari to be a part of the Akhanda UK Teacher Training Team and look forward to our connection.
